Mary E. Gabel

Mary E. Gabel, nee Fowler, 89, of Perryville, Missouri, formerly of Belleville, Illinois, born May 12, 1922, in Springfield, Missouri, died October 1, 2011 at Independence Care Center, in Perryville, Missouri.

Mrs. Gabel retired from Memorial Hospital after 35 years. She was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Moose Lodge 53, and the Illinois State Woman’s Bowling Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur K. and Flora, nee Dean, Fowler; her loving husband, Jacob C. Gabel; her daughter, Tina Gabel; her brothers, Elvert King and Eugene Fowler; her sisters, Fern Helton and Betty Sauer.

Surviving are her children, Donna Scannell, of Perryville, Missouri, David (Barb) Gabel, of Carlyle, Illinois, and Michael (Theresa) Gabel, of Belleville, Illinois; her grandchildren, Ruth, Anthony, Sandy, Tina, Wendy, Mike, Sara, and Keenan; 15 great grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral: Services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, October 6, 2011, at the funeral home, with Pastor Dean Bader officiating. Interment will be held in Lake View Memorial Gardens Fairview Heights, Illinois.
