

Opal enjoyed playing Bingo, listening to music, dancing, sewing, coin collecting, and painting, but above all else, she treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an extremely devoted and loving mother and grandmother that will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Opal’s faith was extremely dear to her; she originally attended Rosemont Baptist Church, followed by Meadow Heights Baptist Church, and most recently, Copper Creek Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Jack E. Wilson; her parents, Kyle E. Beckner and Hannah A. (nee Smith) Beckner; and her siblings, Tony, Elvis, Jean, Johnny, and John.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Sharon (Doug) Buechler and Karen (John) Hancock; grandchildren, Stacey (Dave), Joshua (Jenny), Mandy (Rich), Nicholas, and Nathan (Kristine); great-grandchildren, Lyndsay, Abbey, Emma, Myles, Maxwell, Jack, Dylan, and Ryder; dear niece/nephew, Debbie and Lanny Downard; plus numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Jack Kurrelmeyer. Interment to follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
