

Paul Thurston Sanford, 86, of Swansea, passed away Monday, March 14, 2022. He was born July 5, 1935 in Lowell North Carolina to Earl Linden and Addie Mae (Buchanan) Sanford. Paul was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He married Marian Clifton July 26, 1958 in O’Fallon, Illinois. Paul was the Chief Engineer at WIL Radio Station. He was a Ham Radio operator, WB91GB and was a lifetime member of Radio Club. He was also a member of Moose Lodge #1221 and a recipient of the Pilgrim Degree of Merit as well as a founding member and bass player of the band, Nitpickers.
Survivors include his daughters, Lendy (Neil) Middendorf of St. Louis, MO and Wendy Cunningham of Wentzville, MO; grandchildren, Ashley (Levi) nee Mitchell Romandine, Jessica (Anthony) nee Mitchell Antle, Brenna Cunningham and Lynell Cunningham; great-grandchildren, Mitchell Antle, Cameron Antle, Maia Romandine; son-in-law, Lou Mitchell Jr., of Granite City. Predeceased by his parents, siblings, daughter, Tami nee Sanford Mitchell and Tom Cunningham.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 18, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, IL 62208 with visitation from 11:00 am until time of service. Interment to follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Moose Heart at www.mooseheart.org
