Peter G. Glastras

Peter G. Glastras, 89, of Collinsville, Illinois, born May 11, 1923, in Collinsville, took his final flight to Heaven, Monday, November 19, 2012, at Cedarhurst Assisted Living in Collinsville, Illinois.

Mr. Glatras graduated from Collinsville High School, after which, he pursued studies in pre-law at the University of Illinois; however, with the onset of WWII, he left college and enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He proudly served his country as a pilot, flying missions in England, France, and South America. After returning home, he owned and operated the Peerless Dry Cleaners, in Collinsville, for over 40 years. Peter was an avid photographer and loved music and animals. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who will be truly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gust and Stella Glastras.

Surviving are his loving wife, of 67 years, Frances Glastras, nee Kefalas; his three daughters, Connie (Michael) Hamer of Somonauk, Illinois, Pam (Tim) McElligott, of Fenton, Missouri, and Patty Beck, of Arlington Heights, Illinois; his six grandchildren, Joshua (Mary) Hamer, Sean (Lindsey) Hamer, Andrew Beck, Jordan (Becca) Beck, Tyler (Diana) McElligott, and Zoe (Thomas ) Kash; four great grandchildren, Caden, Georgia, Avery, and Maggie; and a brother, Thomas Glastras.

Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m., Sunday, November 25, 2012, at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois. A trisagion service will be held at 6 p.m., Sunday.

Funeral: Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 26, 2012, at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Swansea, Illinois, with Father Achilles Karathanos officiating. Interment will be held in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois
