

JR, as he was affectionately known as, was born on November 23, 1945, in Nashville, Tennessee to Raymond John Schuchman, Sr. and Artie Mae Schuchman (nee Harden).
JR enjoyed the diversity of careers. He was a bartender as well as a sales representative for Lowe’s.
One of JR’s earliest ambitions was to be a professional bowler. He bowled (5) 300 games and (1) 800 series, earning a diamond and trophy.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, teaching hunter safety classes (for the state of Illinois), and the Washer League. He loved sports in general and spending time with family.
JR was a member of the Mississippi Valley Duck Hunters of Illinois; and the American Legion of O’Fallon for over 30 years.
JR was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond John “Bud” and Artie Mae “Ritty” Schuchman; his wife, Barbara Ann Schuchman (nee Schmidt); and brother, Thomas “Tom” L. Schuchman.
He is survived by special friends he considered family, Daniel (Keri - "The Warden") Cary, and their daughter, Danielle Cary; and Kerry (Carrol) Davis.
A very special thanks to BJC Hospice, his nurse, Donna, and caregivers who honored his wish to remain in his home.
A graveside gathering with Military Honors will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 12:30pm at Lake View Funeral Home & Memorial Garden, 5000 N Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
