

Ronald Carlin Summers, a cherished resident of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away on January 7, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on March 6, 1943, in California, Ronald was a triplet who spent his early years in Burbank, California, before residing in several cities including Chicago, Marion, Benton, Baton Rouge and finally settling in Mt. Vernon.
Ronald served bravely as a Marine, embodying the values of loyalty and resilience throughout his military career. His adventurous spirit and dedication were evident in all aspects of his life.
In May 1967, Ronald married Jane, with whom he shared a devoted life and raised three children: Deborah (John), Myra (Ralph), and Paul (Pam). He was a beloved grandfather to Nicolas (Angie), Jessica, Sarah (Cameron), Catherine, and Amelia, and a great-grandfather to Benny. In 2000, Ronald married Carolyne, expanding his family with three more children: Brenda (Clyde), Twana (Dennis), and Roger (Lisa). He was also a grandfather to Heather, Jeremiah, Ashley, and the late David.
Ronald was the brother to the late Bob and Roz, and uncle to Theresa and the late Dean. He was a friend to many, known for his generous, gentle, and humorous nature.
In his personal life, Ronald enjoyed fishing and playing dice, pursuits that reflected his wise and honest character. His hard-working and devoted nature left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
On March 6, 2026 Ron will be laid to rest next to Carolyne at the Union Ridge Cemetery with Military Honors.
