Ruth Kraft

Ruth was born October 7, 1925 in Belleville, IL to Adolf and Ellanora (Deppe) Zellmer.

She married Alfred Kraft on May 26, 1951; he preceded her in death on March 11, 1976.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Russell Zellmer, Edward Zellmer, Will Zellmer, Howard Zellmer, Emil Zellmer, Elmer Zellmer; and brother-in-law, Mike Coon.

Ruth is survived by her children, Cindy (Jack) Petersen of O’Fallon, IL, Scott (Linda) Kraft of Fairview Heights, IL, and Steve (Melody Flores) Kraft of Swansea, IL; grandchildren, Dana (Carly) Petersen-Crabb of Eugene, OR, Amanda (Peter Conrad Jr.) Petersen of O’Fallon, IL, Aaron (Crystal) Petersen of O’Fallon, IL and Christopher (Natasha) Kraft of Lebanon, IL; great-grandsons, Jonathan, Theodore and Carson; and her sister, Alice Coon of Freeburg, IL and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth spent her life devoted to her family, working as a homemaker. She also worked for several years at O’Fallon High School in the cafeteria. She always enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, sewing and quilting. She would make beautiful quilts to donate to the Linus Project, an organization who gives quilts to ill, needy and deserving children. Ruth’s heart for others will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. She loved her family dearly and her legacy will live on forever through them.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or to the Belleville Humane Society.

A memorial service for Ruth will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 12:00 P.M., with a visitation from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Services will be held at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL.

The family has entrusted Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL with cremation rites.
