Ruth Adeline Haverman Simpson

Ruth loved feeding her finches and watching Cardinals baseball. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed tending to her flowers. Additionally, she dried and preserved floral arrangements and sewed both clothing and crafts for her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Flora, nee Haege, Haverman; a daughter, Sheila Mae Simpson; a granddaughter, Jaime J. Mitchell; her brothers, Richard, Robert, and Donald Haverman; a sister, Loraine D. Woods; brothers-in-law, Thomas McCallister and James E. Woods; and a sister-in-law, Helen Haverman.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 63 years, Lawrence Simpson; her daughters, Sharon (Al) Way and Sue Ann (Susie) Simpson; her sons, Lawrence J. (Gaynell) Simpson, Thomas E. (Gay) Simpson, and David A. Simpson; a daughter-in-law, Maureen (Rick) Gaudreault; her grandchildren, Wayne (Tammy) Way, Lori (Doug) Frerichs, David Simpson, Amy (Jeremiah) Leos, Timmy (Latisha) Simpson, Donnie Simpson, Rachel Simpson, Joy (Tom) Mifflin, Sarah (J) Laurent, Joey Ephrem, and Tera (Craig) Scroggins; 20 great grandchildren; sisters, Mary McCallister and Lillian (Joe) Steinkoenig; brothers, John E. Haverman, Sr. and Joe (Doris) Haverman; her sisters-in-law, Shirley (Ralph) Klein, Lillian (Buddy) Haverman, Judy Haverman, and Patricia L. (Pat) Krupp; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to her caregivers, Cheryl, Cindy, and Kurt; Dr. Oscar Florendo and his nursing staff; and to Heartland Hospice, for their kind, compassionate, and loving care of Ruth.

Funeral: Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the funeral home, with Dr. Clarence Haege and Rev. Gregg Haege officiating. Entombment will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
