

Mr. Dismuke joined the United States Marine Corps in 1958, where he proudly served until 1965. He was subsequently awarded an Officer's Commission in the Army Reserves in where he served until 1992. Mr. Dismuke received his commission and entered the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department Academy in 1966, and served for over twenty years. Following his police commission, Mr. Dismuke joined the Defense Investigation Service where he served as a Special Agent for eight years. During his career, Mr. Dismuke received numerous awards, metals, and accolades including Police Chief's Letter of Commendation; the National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star; The Army Achievement Medal; and the Army Commendation Medal.
Mr. Dismuke received an AA from St. Louis Community College in 1974; a B.S.from Northeast Missouri State University in 1976; and a M.A. from Webster University in 1979.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cliffton Ewen and Lottie Ethel, nee Turner, Dismuke.
Surviving is his loving wife, Annette, nee Bixler, Dismuke; sons, Bill Purdy, Garland Dismuke and Thom Dismuke; daughters Kim Schilli and Robin Purdy; grandchildren, David Lashbrook, Elizabeth Schilli, April Purdy, Sandra Purdy, Anthony Schilli, Megan Dismuke, and Allison Dismuke; great-grandchildren: Peyton Purdy, Michael Brokaw, Wyatt Lashbrook, and Annabelle Lashbrook; brothers: Melvin Dismuke and George Dismuke; sisters: Hazel Evans, Bernice Carter, Delia Jones, Ella Trousdale, Lavada Knight, Margie Wright, and Mary Shevlin.
Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, May 31st, 2015 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois. Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m., Monday, June 1st, 2015. Interment in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
