Timothy Lee Docherty of O’Fallon, Illinois, a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, passed away on December 3rd, 2025, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. He was 44 years old. Tim is preceded by his father, Thomas K Docherty, and survived by his mother, Yong Hollein, and his two children, Thomas and Amelia Docherty.
Tim, as he was affectionately known to his family and friends, was born on November 16th, 1981. He graduated from Belleville East High School before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving as a Special Intelligence Systems Administrator. For his Brothers and Sisters in the Marine Corps, he will be deeply missed, remembered as the warrior everyone wanted to be alongside, willing to do anything and sacrifice all.
Upon the completion of his service in 2005, Tim returned home to begin a successful career as an IT Professional at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). Outside of his professional life, Tim was a man who embraced life with enthusiasm and a great sense of humor. He was a successful amateur foodie, professional sarcasm distributor, a connoisseur of only the finest beers that start with "Miller" and end in "Lite," and scholar in the science of collecting bug splatter on two wheels.
Tim will be remembered as a maestro of bringing people together, a genuine friend with the sincerest heart, and a master of helping others. His greatest joys and accomplishments were his two children: Thomas Docherty (mother, Tiffany Formigoni) and Amelia Docherty (mother, Mary Golden). Tim’s endless love for Tommy and Amelia defined him; he was the phenomenal father so many of us strive to be.
A beloved son, father, and friend to many, the positive impact Tim’s life had on others is countless. To say he will be missed is truly an understatement.
"A life that makes a difference, leaves a beautiful memory."
A celebration of Tim’s life will take place on Saturday, December 20th, 2025, at Lake View Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, located at 5000 N. Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, IL 62208.
