Venita Jane Rogers

Venita was born to Edmund R. Shelby and Selma M. Shelby (nee Stone) on July 23, 1932, in East St. Louis, Illinois.

Venita was a longtime resident of Millstadt, Illinois and formerly Swansea/Belleville, Illinois.

Venita graduated from Belleville Township High School in 1950.

Venita married William A. Rogers on June 30, 1951, and he preceded her in death on October 21, 2009.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Edmund R. Shelby and Selma M. Shelby (nee Stone); mother-in-law, Georgia Paul; father-in-law, Ellison (Buzz) F. Paul; daughter, Cheryl Rogers Schmeder; and sister-in-law, E. Kathryn Von Feldt.

Survivors include daughter, Deborah K. Rogers (David) Scharf of Millstadt, IL and son, William R. (Cindy) Rogers of Swansea, IL; son-in-law, Larry Schmeder of Millstadt, IL; grandchildren: Jeffrey Scharf, Brent (Melissa) Scharf, Aaron Scharf (all of Millstadt, IL), Matthew (Michelle) Rogers, Laura (William) Posadas (all of Swansea, IL), Kyle (Amelia) Schmeder and Katelyn (Kyle) Gregurec of Freeburg, IL; along with eight great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Venita will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 10:00am – 12:00pm at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, Illinois.

The funeral service will begin at 12:00pm with the committal immediately following the service.

Memorials may be given to the family.
