

Virginia was a homemaker and attended Christ the King Apostolic Church, O’Fallon, IL. She was a school board member for Belle Valley School for many years and also was a Girl Scout of America leader for many years, serving on various boards over the years. Virginia enjoyed quilting, cooking, canning, planting flowers, reading, especially the bible.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Minnie nee Hagbom Wolff; her husband of seventy one years, Leonard Smith, Sr.; brother, George Wolff; sisters, Eileen Froese, Evelyn Kohlbrecher, Shirley Herbert, Lenore Wolff and Lorene Wolf; and a son-in-law, Carl Crom.
Virginia is survived by three sons, Leonard Smith Jr. of Belleville, IL, Kenneth (Joyce) Smith of Jackson, MS, Dale (Carolyn) Smith of Belleville, IL; two daughters, Doris (Darrell) Fritchley of Belleville, IL and Marion Crom of Belleville, IL.; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many dear nieces, nephews and friends.
A million times we need you, a million times we cried. If love could have saved you, you never would have died. In life we loved you dearly in death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place no one will ever fill. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone, part of us went with you the day God called took you home.

Visitation: Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2012, at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2012, at the funeral home with Pastor Larry Blake officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
