

Walter proudly served his country in the United Sates Navy during World War II. In 1941 he was on the U.S.S. Richmond which pulled away from Pearl Harbor the day before the attacks on December 7, 1941. He worked for Stag Brewery in Belleville over 45 years working his way up to supervisor. He was an avid bowler who also loved to play horseshoes with friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who will truly be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Olinda, nee Yeager, Walsh; and his twin siblings, Vernon Walsh and Velma Werle.
Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Naoma Walsh, nee Theis, of Belleville, Illinois; his three sons, Terry (Doreen Downs) Walsh, Kevin Walsh, and Dean (Julia) Walsh, all of Belleville, Illinois; his grandchildren, Sean, Brian, Brenna Noble (Josh), Jennifer, Natalie, and Nicholas, 10 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation: Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
Funeral: Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the funeral home. Interment will be held privately in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
