William went to East St. Louis High School and was a pitcher for the high school team.
William enlisted in the Navy after graduation. A veteran, who served four years in the Korean War. He was stationed on a cruiser, tanker, and destroyer.
After being discharged in 1956, William met and married his wife, Mary Jane Somarty on December 15, 1956.
William was a truck driver and owned his own truck, doing long distance driving with his wife. He was an avid pinochle player. He loved his Cardinals and watching cowboy pictures.
William was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Highland, Illinois.
Survivors are his daughter, Tina Marie Lambird; son, William S. Aegerter, Jr.; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
A visitation for William will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Lake View Funeral Home 5000 N Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, Illinois 62208. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation.
