William J. "Bill" Berger Jr.

William J. "Bill" Berger, 72, of Freeburg, Illinois, born on November 15, 1943, in Belleville, Illinois, died on February 19, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Belleville, Illinois with his loving family by his side.

Bill enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, entertaining, cooking, woodworking, gardening and attending yard sales, but his most precious moments were those spent with his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his father, William J. Berger, Sr.; and his brother-in-law, Norbert Rapp.

Surviving is his mother, Mildred Berger; his loving wife of 52 years, Carole, nee Ridgeway, Berger; his four sons, Todd (Karen) Berger, Jeff (Carrie) Berger, Greg (Angela) Berger, and William "BJ" (Kimberly) Berger; his grandchildren, Maggie, David, Sydney, Joseph, Justin, Jessica, Caleb, Cody, Blake, Rob, and Tyler; his great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Aaden and Noah; his sister, Roberta "Bobbie" Rapp; his parents-in-law, Hugh and Elizabeth Ridgeway; his sisters-in-law, Cathy (Leslie) Howard and Lisa (Paul) Dan; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including his extended family at Dry Lake Campground.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, February 23rd, 2016 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois. Funeral services to follow at 7:00 p.m., in the funeral home chapel. Inurnment in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois, at a later date.
