Zella was a part of the Caseyville Baptist Church, and had a passion for horses and the people in her life as well. She was always taking care of others and she was known to her family as the most generous person in the world.
Zella was preceded in death by her husband Roy Colwell; her parents David Teeters and Era Davis; her brother, David Teeters; and sister Marguerite Gurule.
She is survived by her loving children Dennis Hixon, Joel Hixon, and Gary (Melissa) Tisdale; and sister Ruth Backmaster.
In lieu of flowers, memorials made to Vitas Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
Visitiation will be held at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, IL 62208 on Monday May 1, 2017 from 10-11 a.m., followed by an 11:00 funeral service.
