Patricia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend. Family was everything to her. Known for her warm hospitality, she never let anyone leave her home without food and a cup of tea, and she cherished hours-long phone calls filled with stories and laughter. A faithful Catholic, Patricia prayed daily for those in need and found great comfort and strength in her faith.
Proud of her Irish heritage, Patricia loved music, singing, and dancing—especially with her grandchildren. She was immensely proud of her family, often boasting about her children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments. She took great pride in her son Jim’s career as a Cleveland police captain, her daughters’ hard work and nurturing spirits, and the many academic and professional successes of her grandchildren. Fiercely independent, Patricia dedicated her life to caring for those she loved and remained the pillar of her family—strong, kind, and endlessly giving.
As a young woman, Patricia worked as a model and was known for her impeccable sense of style, always dressed to the nines. Her generosity knew no bounds—if you admired something she owned, she’d insist you take it home with you. She treasured her lifelong friendships, staying closely connected with friends from grade school and her lunch club. Patricia’s strength, compassion, and unwavering love touched all who knew her, and her absence leaves an irreplaceable void.
She is survived by her daughters Andrea Fields (Bryan) and Bridget Kane (Jim); grandson and adopted son Edward Purcell (Katie); daughter-in-law Holly Purcell; grandchildren Elizabeth Martin (Danny), Catherine Fields, Lauren Kane, Cormac, Declan and Mairead Purcell; great-grandchildren Aiden, Cullen and Keegan Purcell, and Jack Martin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Thomas Graven; beloved husband, Edward Purcell; treasured daughter, Mary Purcell; loving son, James Purcell; and siblings Tom and Theresa Graven.
