Beloved husband of Norma "Cookie" (nee Straka) for 37 years.
Devoted Step Father of Wendy Straka-Yee, Jeffrey Straka and Kristen Maceroni (Richard); father of two sons from a previous marriage William and Christopher and a Loving Grandfather to many.
Bill served his country as a member of the National Guard (1963 - 1969) and devoted more than 50 years to law enforcement, a career defined by great pride. As a police officer and later as a chief at the Cleveland House of Corrections, he created lifelong friendships and earned the respect of his colleagues.
Bill was a life-long fan of the Cleveland Indians and he often shared stories of his young days behind the plate catching fastballs from Baseball Hall of Famer Bob Feller when he was teammates with Feller's son and winning the city championship with the 1961-62 Cozier Athletics.
In his later years, Bill discovered he had a natural talent for golf and spent much time refining his skills. Bill loved to read books about true crime, especially those rooted in Cleveland history. Bill will be remembered by all those who knew and loved him.
