Arthur Lou J. Thibodeau II

Arthur J. “Lou” Thibodeau II, age 83, of Tiverton, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 15, 2016 at St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of the late Claire F. (Murphy) Thibodeau.

Born in Fall River, the son of the late Arthur J. Thibodeau Sr and Delia (Nelmes) Thibodeau, he was a 1950 graduate of BMC Durfee High School and was a United States Air Force Veteran during the Korean War.

Mr. Thibodeau was employed as a Central Office Switch Man with the former Bell Atlantic Telephone now Verizon Telephone for many years until his retirement. Lou was a member of the VFW in Tiverton, past President of the Circle of Scholars at Salve Regina University and enjoyed golfing and boating.

He is survived by his daughter Laura A. Thibodeau and her partner Cathy Larson of Tiverton; a granddaughter Erin M. Thibodeau of North Carolina; a daughter in-law Sharon Thibodeau of North Carolina and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Thibodeau was also the father of the late MSGT Arthur J. Thibodeau III and brother of the late Phyllis Fraietta.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 8:30am from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Cherry Place 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed his Funeral Mass at 10am in St. Patrick’s Church 306 South St., Somerset. Visiting hours will be Friday from 5 to 8PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his honor may be made to Southcoast VNA and Hospice 200 Mill RD., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
