Bernice P. Zalzal

Born in Fall River, MA, the daughter of the late John and Josephine (Dupont) Delaney, she was a graduate of the former Mt. St. Mary Academy in Fall River and the former Union Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Zalzal was employed as a Nurse at the former Union Hospital in Fall River and the former Charles Chapin Polio Hospital in Providence. Mrs. Zalzal was a member of the Union Hospital Nurses Association.

She is survived by her two children David J. Zalzal and his wife Karin of Nashua, NH and Andrea Sanderson and her husband Jeffrey of Alexandria, VA; two sisters Barbara Moran of Melbourne, FL and Janet Mattos of Fall River; six grandchildren James Andrade, Jessica and Nathan Zalzal and Benjamin, Aidan and Nicholas Sanderson and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Zalzal was also the mother of the late Christopher Andrade and sister of the late Joan Lunde.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 9AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT CHERRY PLACE 178 Winter St., Fall River, MA followed by her funeral mass at 10AM in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Spring St., Fall River. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Burial will be private.
