

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Robert Chapman Bogle and Ruth (Coombs) Bogle; Carol was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and attended the former Union Hospital School of Nursing, Oberlin College, Westminster Choir College, and Elms College where she obtained her BSN, and Berkshire Medical Center School of Anesthesia. Carol was a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist for 50 plus years, retiring in 2019. She worked at Berkshire Medical Center, Baystate Medical Center, Massachusetts Eye and Ear, and St. Anne’s Hospital. She was also a member and Deacon of the United Congregational Church in Little Compton, RI.
Carol was passionate about her service to others. She was steadfast in her incredible work ethic with a profound determination to get things right. She ensured that her patients knew that they were getting the very best care and added a comforting and empathetic bedside manner that could calm the most nervous of souls. She was the consummate pro. This was exponentially demonstrated by her care for her family. Family was first and foremost. She was the most loving and overly generous to her family and friends. She cherished all of her relationships and the camaraderie, connection, love, and joy she received from everyone.
In addition to her loving husband Charles, she is survived by her two loving sons, Robert Appleton and his wife Randi of Colonie, NY, and Scott C. Appleton and his wife Melissa of Franklin, Ma; her grandchildren, Tyler, Evan, Ryan, Connor and Julianna Appleton; her siblings, Nancy Bogle Westfeldt of Little Compton, Susan B. Finnegan and her husband James J. of West Hartford, Leslie Wilson and her husband Keith J. of Little Compton and Captain Ronald Coombs Bogle and his wife Jane of Little Compton; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Linda Bogle.
