Casimira "Charlotte" Burke

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Kazinierz and Wladyslawa (Brzostek) Pianka, she was a lifelong resident of the city.

She worked as a winder and braider at the former Ross-Matthew Mill in Fall River for many years before retiring in the 1980’s. A communicant of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish, she was a member of their senior club. An avid bingo player, she enjoyed doing arts and crafts, knitting, crocheting, and baking.

She is survived by one daughter; Cynthia Medeiros of Swansea, daughter in law; Lorraine Burke of Tiverton, sister; Florence Dansereau of Fall River, three grandchildren; Thomas Barresi of Florida, Brian Burke of Bristol, Melissa Maguire of Seekonk, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was also mother of the late John J. Burke Jr., and sister of the late Wanda O’Brien, Celia Collura, Nora Sydlowski, and Jane Winarski.

Her Funeral will be held on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 8:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Parish at Holy Cross Church, 47 Pulaski St., Fall River. Visiting hours Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. In lieu of flowers contributions in her honor may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
