Born in N. Dartmouth, she was the daughter of the late Harry Helfand and Gussie (Rosofsky) Helfand.
Edith worked as an Assistant Supervisor for Defense Contractor Company, Aerovax during WWII and later in life as a Billing Clerk for New Bedford Gas and Edison Co. before her retirement in 1987.
A social butterfly, she enjoyed her time spent with friends and family, especially her nieces and nephews whom she treated like her children. She enjoyed knitting and was a New England sports enthusiast.
She is survived by her siblings, Sophie Helfand of Dartmouth, Arnold Helfand of Hartford, CT, Lila Galensky of Cheyenne, WY and Florence Hein of Kensington, MD as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Edith was predeceased by her siblings, Samuel, Thomas, Barney, Elliot, Howard and Milton Helfand, Janet Deaner and Ida Glickman.
Due to current occupancy restriction, her burial at Plainville Cemetery will be private. Arrangements are in the care of Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, Fall River.
