

Elizabeth A. (Esau) Thompson, “Betty,” age 90, of Little Compton, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017. She was the wife of the late Richard M. Thompson. Born in Milton, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late William S. and Annie (Johnstone) Esau.
Elizabeth retired from the Westport School District and spent her days enjoying the beautiful view from her home and gardening in her yard, and traveling. She loved volunteering at the Thrift Shop. Elizabeth was a great advocate for the New Bedford Whaling Museum and loved donating her time and money to their great work. She had a great zest for life and adventure, living every day to its fullest.
She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Infantolino of Jamestown, RI, Joan Dewitt and her husband Randy of Colorado Springs, CO, Debbie Link and her husband Larry of Stockton, CA; one son, Bruce Washburn and his partner Joan McCabe of Boothbay, ME; daughter-in-law, Susan Washburn of Little Compton; one sister, Marjorie Esau and eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Peter Washburn, mother-in-law of the late Michael Infantolino, M.D. and sister of the late Thomas Esau.
Her Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 10:00AM in the United Congregational Church, the Commons, Little Compton. Relatives and friends invited.
