Helen L. Sullivan

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late John S. and Helen (O’Brien) Mitchell, she has been a lifelong area resident.

A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, she received a bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Massachusetts University. Helen was the ESL Coordinator at Bristol Community College for many years and was proud to help people from various backgrounds. She volunteered at Marie’s Place and enjoyed gardening and traveling.

She is survived by five children, Joanne L. Brenner and her husband Lou of Navarre, FL, Francis R. “Frank” Sullivan, Jr., and his wife Patricia of Somerset, William E. “Bill” Sullivan and his wife Marie of Duxbury, MA, Timothy J. Sullivan and his wife Sandy of Somerset and Michael P. Sullivan and his wife Nancy of Fall River; thirteen grandchildren, Ryan Sullivan and his wife Courtney, Riley Sullivan, Brendon Sullivan, Michael Sullivan and his wife Alexandra, Meghan Krieg and her husband Max, Jacqueline Sullivan, Cathy DePina and her husband Paul, Kelly Pelote and her husband Ray, Emily Martins and her husband Brian, Zack Boulay, Vada Boulay, Michael Pavao and David Piela; eight great-grandchildren, Taylah Pelote, Aidan Pelote, Jarrad DePina, Stella Martins, Conor Sullivan, Joshua Sullivan, Finley Sullivan and Rory Boulay as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John S. Mitchell and Robert Mitchell and grandmother of the late Jonathan Gosselin, and her late husband Henry Brenner.

Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 8:30 AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Thomas More Church, 386 Luther Ave., Somerset. Relatives and friends invited. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Contributions in her honor may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 320 Nevada St., Suite 201, Newton, MA 02460. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
