Irene D. Soares Wilmarth

Born in Portsmouth, RI, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Raposa) Soares, she spent her youth in Portsmouth before moving to Fall River.

Mrs. Wilmarth was employed as a machine operator at the former Shelburn Shirt Company and Louis Hand Factory until her retirement in 1962. She was a member of the Durfee Boosters Club and enjoyed sewing, playing cards and reading.

She is survived by one daughter, Judy Sheahan and her husband John of Fall River, two grandchildren, Bill Sheahan and his wife Nicole of Westport and Kelly Savoie and her husband Steve of Pembroke, MA, one great-grandson, Luke Savoie, two sisters, Helen Bochenski and her husband Bo of AZ and Ann Kennedy of CO, she was the sister of the late, Patrick Soares, Rena McKenny, Angela Rego, Olivia Bochenski and Joe Soares.

Her Funeral will be held Friday, August 6, 2010 at 11:00AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St., Fall River. Visiting hours Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00PM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Contributions in her honor may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02115. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
