

James F. “Jim” “Red” Murray Sr., age 85, of Fort Mill, South Carolina formerly of Fall River died Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at his residence. He was the husband of Marion (Conboy) Murray to whom he has been married for the past 58 years.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late John W. and Catherine (Leary) Murray, he was a lifelong resident of Fall River before moving to Fort Mill, South Carolina last June.
A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, class of 1944, he was a Veteran of the United States Navy. He retired from the United States Post Office, Fall River branch as Supervisor in 1987 and prior to that he worked at Paul Arpin Van Lines in Providence.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #3669, Swansea, the B.P.O.E. #1860, Bristol, RI, and the VFW Post 5392, Tiverton, RI. He was long time President of the Patrick Brennan Club and a member of the Montaup Country Club. He enjoyed golfing and playing cards.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter; Kathleen Murray Cannon and her husband Joseph Cannon of Walden, NY, four sons; James F. Murray Jr. and his wife Lisa of The Villages, FL, Sean W. Murray of Pearl City, HI, Peter K. Murray and his wife Patricia of Tega Cay, SC, and Timothy M. Murray and his wife Nancy of Tiverton, one sister; Anna Kiley of Trenton, NJ, eight grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews. He was father of the late Mary Ann Murray, Terrence P. Murray, and Daniel J. Murray and brother of the late Katherine Weber, Mary Nugent, and John Murray.
His Funeral will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 8:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at CHERRY PLACE 178 Winter St. Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00AM in Holy Name Church 709 Hanover Street Fall River. Visiting hours Monday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Contributions in his honor may be made to Hospice, 420 Herlong Ave, Ste 104, Rock Hill, SC 29732 and Holy Angels Inc., (a residential facility for handicapped children and adults) 6600 E Wilkinson Blvd., Belmont, NC 28012. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
