Lorraine L. Reed

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of Armand and Maryanne Lafond (nee Caplette), she lived in New Bedford for many years and many places in the world throughout her life including Germany, Maryland, Virginia, Alabama, New York, Texas and Florida before moving to Fall River.

A graduate of Holy Family High School in New Bedford, she received her nursing degree from St. Luke’s Nursing School. She worked as a registered nurse and touched many lives during her career. She was featured in the poster for Greater Southeastern Community Hospital in Washington, DC. She loved her job and was a wonderful nurse.

She loved to play bridge, golf and tennis. She was a great dancer and a great friend.

She is survived by her two daughters, Donna Blaker and Lynne Reed, both of Fall River, two sons, Scott Reed and his wife Angi of Jupiter, Florida and Charles Reed III of Florida, her grandchildren, Kelly Hines of Northborough, Patrick John Blaker of Kidderminster, England. Jennifer and Patricia Reed of Florida, and her brothers and sisters; Lucien and Rose Lafond of Tucson, AZ, Robert and Sharon Lafond of Owensboro, KY, Donald and Diane Lafond of Acushnet, MA, Rita Meehan of Manchester, NH, Roland Lafond of Owensboro, KY and Lucille and Jim DeCosta of Dartmouth, MA.

Her memorial service will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 10:00AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours prior to her service from 9:00 to 10:00AM. Contributions in her honor may be made to Forever Paws, 300 Lynwood St., Fall River, MA 02721. Burial private.
