

Luiz P. Rocha, “Louie,” 85, of Fall River, died Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Highlander Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Herminia (Miranda) Rocha and longtime companion of Maria Martins of Dartmouth.
Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, a son of the late John and Maria (Estrella) Rocha, he spent his youth in Faial and Terceira, Portugal and immigrated to the United States in 1970 settling in Fall River.
Mr. Rocha worked as a Machine Operator for Duro Print Company in Fall River for many years before retiring in 1994. A member of the Academica Club, he enjoyed working on his home which he loved, playing dominoes, and dancing.
In addition to Maria, he is survived by one daughter; Luisa H. Borges and her fiancé Americo Pacheco of Fall River, two sisters; Rose DeSilva of FL, Regina Fagundes of CA, two grandsons: Derrick R. Borges and his wife Jessica of Fall River, Richard C. Borges and his fiancée Melanie of FL, four great-grandsons; Michael Johnson, Mason, Caleb, and Landon Borges, and many nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Maria Arruda, John, Manuel, and Joe Rocha.
His Funeral will be held on Monday, April 4, 2016 at 9:00AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in Holy Cross Chapel, 47 Pulaski St., Fall River. Visiting hours Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00PM. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
