Lydia A. (Rashed) Viveiros, “Lee,” age 99, of Fall River, was called to eternal glory on Saturday, March 8, 2025 and now there is one more beautiful angel in Heaven. She was blessed with two devout husbands who preceded her in death, Charles P. George and Manuel J. Viveiros.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late George and Sadie (Tamer) Rashed, she was a lifelong resident of the city.
She attended B.M.C. Durfee High School and worked as a sewing machine operator at T and L Sportswear for over twenty years before her retirement in 1960. After retirement she worked as a cafeteria worker for the Fall River Public Schools.
A devout and lifelong communicant of St. Anthony of the Desert Maronite Church, she was a member of the Blessed Mother Guild, the Lebanese American Ladies Auxiliary and the Holy Rosary Society. Her strong faith has sustained her through the difficult times in her life and it has made the good times even more spectacular. Being with her family brought Lydia such joy and those moments together were filled with laughter, music, good Lebanese food and of course, dancing. She often volunteered to cook at the many Lebanese festivals, making chicken and rice which was her specialty. Getting together with the girls to play cards or hang out with the gang at the local McDonalds was always at the top of her list.
She is survived by one daughter, Charlene George Joaquim and her husband Thomas Joaquim of Fall River; two sons, Peter C. George and his wife Mary of N. Dighton, John E. Viveiros and his wife Michelle of Plymouth; sister and best friend, Mary Santerre of Fall River; five grandchildren, Andrea Walker and her husband Matthew, Nicole Mello and her husband Jeffrey, Deanne Munn and her husband Philip, David George and Cory Viveiros; six great-grandchildren, Sydney Mello, Evalyn Walker, Peyton Mello, Charlotte Munn, Matthew Greyson Walker, John Munn and many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was the mother of the late Judith Lee George and sister of the late Rose Motta and Angelina Khoury.
Lydia was fortunate to have the care, love and support from the staff at Catholic Memorial Home and from Southcoast Hospice. They became part of Lydia’s family and treated her as if she were their mother. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for being her angels here on earth.
Her visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 8:00 to 10:00AM in St. Anthony of the Desert Maronite Church, 300 North Eastern Ave., Fall River, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00AM.
