Manuel S. Ponte

Manuel S. Ponte, age 75, of Fall River, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River. He was the husband of Maria V. (Ventura) Ponte, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.

Born in Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal, a son of the late Jose and Maria Luisa (Soares de Medeiros) Ponte, he served in the Army in Portugal before immigrating to the United States and settling in Fall River in April of 1970.

Mr. Ponte was the owner and operator of Ponte Furniture on Pleasant Street in Fall River. He enjoyed watching soccer and going fishing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, David Ponte and his wife Sandra of Swansea and George Ponte and his girlfriend Deb Everett of Fall River; sister, Eduarda Chora of Fall River; four grandchildren, Sabrina Ponte and her wife Jessica of Fall River, Veronica, Tanya and Alyssa Ponte all of Swansea and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Gloria Rocha.

His Funeral will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 9:00 AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St., Fall River.
