

Raymond T. Ready, age 68, of Fall River, passed on October 5, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a vigorous and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the husband of Joyce A. (Weglowski) Ready to whom he had been married for 33 years.
He was born in Fall River the son of Catherine (Mellor) Ready of Somerset and the late E. Raymond Ready. Mr. Ready was a graduate of Somerset High School class of 1962; he attended Dean Jr. College and later received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Bridgeport. He was a veteran of the US Coast Guard having served in the North Atlantic and Vietnam. A former teacher and coach at Westport High School he was a well known, life guard having patrolled the beaches of Southeastern Massachusetts at Horseneck Beach, Bakers Beach, and Elephant Rock Beach club for nearly 50 years; the last 30 at Elephant Rock as Beach Manager and Head Lifeguard.
An avid Red Sox fan he reveled in their World Series victories and lamented their recent seasons. He was a longtime member of the Fall River YMCA where he worked out daily.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are two children; David T. Ready and Kristina P. Ready both of New York, sisters-in law; Paula W. Macy and her husband Judge Joseph I. Macy of Fall River, Joan Weglowski of Newport, RI and Frances Weglowski of Longmeadow, MA and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 9am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St., Fall River followed by his funeral mass at 10am in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St., Fall River.
