

Born in Fall River, Robert “Bob” a son of the late Joseph H. and Sarah V. (Doyle) Griffin, was a lifelong resident of the city.
Bob graduated from Monsignor Coyle High School, and received his Bachelor of Arts in Education from Boston University in 1957. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict as Staff Sergeant.
Bob was retired after owning and operating Robert J. Griffin Realty. He was past president of the Board of Realtors in Fall River, and a former Realtor of the Year.
He was a communicant of Holy Name Church where he was Past President of C.C.D. and a former communicant of Sacred Heart Church. He was a member of the school board for Diman Vocational School, and former chairman of the United Way of Fall River. Bob was an active member for the Boys and Girls Club of Fall River where he was a past Director.
He enjoyed his years as a member of Bakers Beach in Westport. He loved the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and Bruins, playing handball, walking the track at Diman as well as attending daily mass.
Bob was the former husband of Lydia A. (Feitelberg) Griffin; survived by 7 children: Robert J. Griffin Jr. and his wife Alda of Swansea, Peter J. Griffin of Fall River, Sandra Griffin Feitelberg of Fall River, Judeth E. Sullivan of Dartmouth, Nancy J. Benson of Collinsville, CT, Kathleen Griffin-Mayo and her husband Douglas of New Seabury, MA, and Christine J. Coombes of Fall River, thirteen grandchildren, one great grandson, and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was one of thirteen children; survived by Gladys Erickson of Glendale, CA, Ruth Griffin and Ann Marie Huggins both of Garden Grove, CA, and Margaret Abney of St. Joe, AK. He was the brother of the late William, Joseph, Louis, John, Thomas and Owen Griffin, Ellen Copley and Dorothy Hallisey.
His Funeral will be held Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 8AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT CHERRY PLACE 178 Winter St. Fall River, MA followed by his Funeral Mass at 9AM in Holy Name Church 709 Hanover St. Fall River, Visiting Hours Monday from 5-8PM.
