

Rose (Cabral) Ruest Black, age 90, of Fall River, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025, in Charlton Memorial Hospital one week shy of her 91st birthday. She was the wife of the late Linwood Black and the former wife of the late Norman Ruest, Sr.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Alfred and Alice (Martel) Cabral, she was a lifelong resident of the city.
A graduate of Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School, she attended Fisher Jr. College. Rose worked at the former Truesdale Hospital as an EKG technician, Superior Cleaners and as a receptionist for the Waring-Sullivan Funeral Homes for many years.
Rose was an enthusiastic and dedicated ballroom dancer, known for always being on the dance floor. Outside of dancing, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, and cooking— sharing her hobbies with loved ones making countless cherished memories.
Above all, she treasured her time with family. She will be remembered by them for her endless love and for the way she always ended every conversation with the words, "I love you more."
She is survived by six children, Norman Ruest, Jr. and his wife Dawn of Stewart, FL; Gail Alden and her husband Steve of Templeton, MA; Debra Howell and her husband Lou of Bonneau, SC; Samuel Ruest and his wife Cindy of Assonet, MA; Sandy McDonald and her husband John of Houston, AK; and Richard E Ruest and his wife Gail of Bonneau, SC; and one sister Doris Guerette of Somerset, 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Richard P Ruest and sister of the late Eugene, Alfred, and Edward Cabral.
Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be held prior to her service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery.
