

William J. Blythe, Jr., age 89, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 5, 2022, at his home in Tiverton, surrounded by family. He was the devoted husband of Merilyn L. (Chabot) Blythe to whom he was married for 63 years.
Born in Fall River a son of the late William J., Sr., and Winifred (Britland) Blythe.
A graduate of BMC Durfee High School, Class of 1951, he then attended Northeastern University. A Veteran of the United States Marines Corps where he served in Korea. After his military service, Bill spent most of his career as a successful salesman for various companies. Upon moving to Tiverton, he worked as a Truant Officer for the Tiverton School District, and security for the Newport Naval Base. Upon his retirement from the Navy Base, he spent his “retirement” days as a Funeral Assistant for Waring-Sullivan. A devoted family man, he enjoyed dinner and dancing with his wife, camping, New England Sports, attending events for his grandchildren and spending time with family and friends. A communicant and choir member of St. Theresa’s Church in Tiverton, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, a former President of the Tiverton High School Boosters Club and actively involved in BMC Durfee alumni events.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Kevin Blythe and his wife Nancy of Fall River; daughters, Karen Paquette and her husband Kenneth and Kimberly Kiser and her husband Robert both of Tiverton; seven grandchildren, Kory Silva and her husband Andrew, Britnie Paquette, Kraig Paquette, Nina Blythe, Robert Kiser, III and his fiancée Hannah Wilkie, Heidi Kiser, and William Kiser; two great-grandchildren, Merilyn and Margaret Silva as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Edward Blythe.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 20, 2022 from 8:00 to 9:30 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by a Service in the funeral home at 9:30 AM. Burial with Military Honors in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne to follow.
