William Desmond Rigby, age 68, of Westport, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016. He was the husband of Marilyn (Bentley) Rigby for the past 45 years. Born in Fall River, he lived in Estero, FL for 11 years and Westport for the past 37 years. He was the son of the late Warren and Ann (Lavigne) Rigby.
Mr. Rigby was a retired, senior Vice President at Compass Bank, working for over 35 years. He was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School and UMASS Dartmouth and served in the National Guard. He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, golfing and traveling. He was also a member of the Allendale Country Club.
Surviving in addition to his wife: a daughter, Jennifer A. Lima and husband Gregory of Westport, a son, William B. Rigby and wife Carley of Bolton, MA., a brother, Warren A. Rigby, Jr. of Fall River, four grandchildren: Sophia and Mae Lima and Sydney and Rowan Rigby and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 9am in St. George Church, 12 Highland Avenue, Westport. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, 4-7pm in the Waring-Sullivan Funeral Home of Memorial Tribute at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River. Burial at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
