Afrodite Atanasios Christ

Afrodite Atanasios Christ, 91, passed away on August 2, 2022 in Falls Church, Virginia. Afrodite was born on the Aegean island of Imroz to Athanasios and Maria Kavaleros on December 28, 1930. She was schooled on the island, speaking both her native Greek and Turkish fluently, and became a skilled seamstress. She married Gus John Christ on August 29, 1965 in Athens. She worked as a sales associate for Loehmann’s clothing store for 25 years until her retirement. Afrodite was the family matriarch and a favorite aunt of many, both related and unrelated. Afrodite is preceded in death by her loving husband and four of her siblings. She is survived by her four children, John Christ, Theope Christ, Mary Anderson (Barry) and Tom Christ (Maureen); her sister, Stella Hilepos; and her four grandchildren, Alexander, Cassandra, Stella and Olympia. Funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m., Saturday, August 6, 2022 at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church in Falls Church, Virginia. Burial will follow at National Memorial Park Cemetery in Falls Church.
