Alicia, fondly called “Baby” by her family and friends, was born in Macabebe in the Pampanga province of the Philippines on August 24, 1944. She moved to the United States in the 1970s to join her sisters and parents, raise her own family, and work as a medical technologist for 44 years at the George Washington University Hospital. She had a smile that lit up the room, and a unique way of saying things that inspired laughter and joy in all those that knew and loved her.
Alicia joins her father, Alfredo, her mother, Manuela, and her siblings, Alfredo, Jr., Rodolfo, and Carmelita in heaven. She is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 49 years, Lucito B. Cataquiz of Falls Church, Virginia; their two daughters, Alicia Lorenza “Lori” (married to Mathieu Doyon) of Montreal, Canada and Lourdes Manuela “Lulu” of Falls Church, Virginia; four grandchildren, Jade, Jasmine, Mia and Samuel Cataquiz of Montreal, Canada; sisters, Dr. Purita B. Gonzales, Aurora B. Herrera, Rosalinda B. Kwan, and many adoring nieces and nephews.
A private family mass will take place on September 12, 2020 at Saint John the Beloved Roman Catholic Church in McLean, VA. A larger celebration of life and memorial service is to be scheduled at a future date when travel bans are lifted.
Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen. She is forever in our hearts.
