Anna Grivas

Anna Grivas, 63 years old passed away on October 20th 2024 embraced by loved ones after a two- year battle with cancer. Originally from Montreal, Canada, Anna moved to Brooklyn, New York, in 1968 where she spent her childhood surrounded by friends and family nearby. Formerly married, in 1983 she wed Dennis Grivas. The family moved to Virginia in 1994. Anna, a quintessential Brooklyn mother, experienced a significant culture shift and over time grew to love and happily call Virginia her home.

Anna had a warm and caring aura that drew people to her. She was loving and non-judgmental no matter what transgressions may have passed. Her selflessness, empathy, and genuine care for others is forever-lasting. Her spirituality was a big part of her life and strongly shaped her into the gracious woman we knew. Anna loved to laugh and some of her fondest memories were created while sitting around the dining room table joking with her friends and family.

She is survived by August Grivas (Wife Christina), George Grivas (Partner Amy Gagliardi), and her miracle Grandson Leo Grivas who she adored. Anna was a beloved sister to James Adamakos and a nurturing Nona to Illana Gagliardi, Christopher Small ( Wife Alexandra), Jacqueline Masters (Husband Kyle Masters), and Paula Grivas. As an aunt to Frosso Adamakos (husband Levi Grosswald), Leah Gagliardi, Olivia Gagliardi, and Celeste Gagliardi. Anna also embraced her role as a great-aunt to Demetra, Noah, and Isaac Adamakos-Grosswald. She is survived by many other relatives, friends, and neighbors who loved her deeply.

In accordance with Anna’s wishes, a funeral service will be 9:00 am at St. Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church 3149 Glen Carly Rd Falls Church, Va. 22041, followed by burial at 11:00 am located at National Funeral Home & Memorial Park 7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, Va. 22042. Family and friends are invited to join for lunch at Nostos Restaurant at 8100 Boon Blvd. Vienna, Va. 22182.
