

Barb was born on Feb. 21, 1942, in Dayton, OH, the daughter of the late Joseph and Jane Macklin. She was raised in Dayton, along with her older sisters Patricia and Nancy and her younger brother Michael. She graduated from the University of Dayton with a degree in education and became an elementary school teacher. She paused her teaching career to raise her children and then taught fifth grade at Saint Anthony Catholic School for many years. She remained active at the school as a volunteer and on the Board of Directors after she retired from teaching.
Barbara married Martin Faga in 1966 in Dayton, and they embarked on a lifelong love affair. They settled in the Washington, D.C. area and raised their sons, Jeff and Scott, there.
Barb was an active member of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Falls Church. In addition to her work at the school, she was a Eucharistic Minister and helped in other capacities in the church. She was also active in other volunteer organizations, most notably PEO.
Barb enjoyed travelling with her family, and shared wonderful family vacations at many locations. She also enjoyed travelling with friends and often took “ladies trips” with friends from high school and college.
Barb was preceded in death by Marty, her loving husband of 57 years. She is survived by her brother Mike, and her sons, Jeff and his wife Kelly and Scott and his wife Martine. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren Courtney, Patrick and his wife Kayla, Matthew, Rachel, Brian and his wife Gloriana, and Stella, and by her sister in law Betsy. Her family will greatly miss her loving heart and wonderful sense of humor.
Funeral services are planned for 10:00 a.m. on October 23, 2025 at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Falls Church, VA. Burial will follow at National Funeral Home, Falls Church, VA.
