Born July 9th, 1922 in Weldon, NC. to John Henry McGee and Berta Conwell McGee of Weldon, NC. She was baptized at the age of 9 in Weldon, and when her family moved to Arlington, Virginia in 1938 she became a member of the First Baptist Church of Clarendon, (now known as the Church of Clarendon) where all 7 of her children were baptized. When women were first allowed to serve as Deacons in the Baptist Church she became one of the first. Throughout her life with the Church besides being a Deacon, she severed as Sunday School Director a Sunday School teacher, and the Wednesday night dinner coordinator.
Bernice was a 1940 graduate of Washington & Lee High School, Arlington, Virginia. On December 7, 1943, she married her childhood sweetheart Murray Edson Anglin also of Weldon, NC. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during WWII, and predeceased her on March 2nd, 1974.
From 1963 until her retirement in 1990 she was employed as a telephone operator/receptionist with IBM of Northern Virginia. After her retirement she gave freely of her time, volunteering for over 27 years at the Virginia Hospital Center, delivering Meals on Wheels for over 25 years and was a long standing member of Happy Hearts of Arlington, Virginia.
Her favorite bible verse was: Raise up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22 : 6
