Bertha Silva Falcon de Depaz, passed away on November 5, 2018 surrounded by her family. Bertha was born in Ancash, Peru on May 9, 1937. She was the loving wife of Victor E. Depaz. Victor and Bertha raised their family in Huaraz, Peru until moving to Virginia in 1980. She was a dedicated employee of the Ramada/Westin hotel in Tysons Corner for 30 years, where she was lovingly referred to as “Mama Bertha”. Bertha was passionate about her family, education, faith, and desire to help others. While working multiple jobs Victor and Bertha raised their three children. Later, she cared for Victor during his Parkinson’s disease while raising two granddaughters. Bertha was an active member of St. James Catholic Church and prayed for others with a strong devotion to St. Anthony. She exemplified her love through her cooking. Bertha opened her house to anyone and fed them well. She maintained her strength without complaint through many challenges, including the tragic 1970 earthquake, overcoming the burning of her house, losing her grandson, and fighting ovarian cancer twice. Bertha is survived by her children Janett, Tatiana, William; adopted children, Nicholle and Michelle (granddaughters); grandchildren Natasha, Cecilia, and William Jr. She is also survived by her great grandchildren; Caroline, Grayson, Camryn, and Eleanor. Bertha is now reunited with her husband Victor Depaz and grandson Michael Glennie. She is also survived by her sister Ana Silva and some 85 loving relatives. Deceased are sisters Delia, Libia, Ysabel and brother Manuel Alejandro. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Friday, November 9 at Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 West Broad Street, Falls Church, VA. A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 10 at St. James Catholic Church, 905 Park Avenue, Falls Church, VA. Burial will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park, 9900 Braddock Road, Fairfax, VA.
