
Beryl Marcotte O’Connor, 93, beloved wife of seventy years, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend; born Thursday, April 22, 1920 in Epping, New Hampshire to Frank C. Marcotte & Mary Rose Marcotte; went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 30, 2013 in Buena Vista, Virginia with her loving family by her side. Originally from Epping, New Hampshire Beryl attended Sanborn Seminary High School in Kingston, New Hampshire graduating in the class of 1938; later attending the University of New Hampshire graduating in the class of 1942. After marrying the love of her life Beryl became a teacher at St. Thomas More School in Arlington Virginia for eleven years before her retirement. She accompanied her husband on his overseas postings in Taipei, Taiwan, London England. A long time parishioner at St. Philips Roman Catholic Church in Falls Church, Virginia Beryl was very active in the church and was a member of the St. Philips Quilting Group creating twenty-five quilts. Enjoying many activities in her free time Beryl was an avid quilter including being a member of the Quilters Unlimited Vienna Chapter. Beryl also enjoyed baking, traveling, canning and preserving; but out of all her activities Beryl truly loved the times she shared with her family and friends. She will be missed greatly by those who had their lives touched by her. Beryl is preceded in death by her father, Frank C. Marcotte; mother, Mary Rose Marcotte; brothers, Elwin J. Marcotte and Francis A. Marcotte and her sister, Lorraine Ayotte. Beryl is survived by her beloved husband, Ralph C. O’Connor, Sr.; her loving children, Ralph C. O’Connor, Jr. & wife Didi, Sean O’Connor & wife Julya Rose Hodge, Jane O’Connor Stange & husband Patrick and Noreen O’Connor-Abel & husband Edwin; her beloved nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; her dear siblings, Frand B. Marcotte, Elaine Loch, Katherine MacDonald, Marilyn Brunette and Conrad Marcotte and numerous other family members and friends. A visitation will be held Friday, September 6, 2013 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Murphy Funeral Home; 1102 W. Broad St.; Falls Church, VA 22046. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 10:30am at St. Philips Roman Catholic Church; 7500 St. Phillips Ct.; Falls Church, Virginia 22042. A Graveside Service will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park; 9900 Braddock Road; Fairfax, Virginia 22032. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that a donation be made in Beryl name to the “Church of the Nativity-Operation Starfish”. These gifts will be used to build houses in Haiti for those in desperate need of shelter.
