On Thursday, October 19, 2023, Carol Ann Dow, beloved mother, passed away at the age of 87. She was born in Washington, D.C. to the late Franklin Scott and Eleanor (Follin) Gicker Jr. on October 10, 1936. Carol, known affectionately to many as Carol Ann, grew up in McLean, Virginia, and was both a life-long resident of Northern Virginia and member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in McLean.
Carol retired from Honeywell/HFSI-WANG in 1997 following 26 years of service. In recent years, Carol had been active in the Herndon Woman’s Club and a volunteer at Reston Hospital Center.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Lansing “Lance” Dow Sr., and her sister, Kathleen “Cookie” Chapman. She is survived by three daughters, Cheryl “Cheri” Richardson Butler, Pamela (Michael) Hummel, and Traci (John III) Byram; five grandchildren, Scott Smith, Daniel Daymude II, Michelle Hummel, Heather Byram, and John Byram IV; one great-grandchild, Dustin Byram; niece Julie (Kevin) Conway; and sister-in-law Letitia Iorio.
Visitation, service, and burial will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at National Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042.
