

Donald P. Zeifang (77). On Sunday October 27, 2013 in Falls Church, Virginia. Dear husband of Kathleen Hallahan Zeifang, father of Michael Zeifang and Laura Zeifang of Washington DC; brother of Bernard Zeifang of Pittsford, NY and Joan Joyce of Sun City, AZ. He was exceptionally caring of his nieces and nephews and Mrs. Marylin Carr and her eight children following the death of their father.
A 1960 graduate of Notre Dame University, Don celebrated his 50th reunion from Georgetown University Law Center this year. He began his legal career as a clerk for The Honorable John J. Sirica, chief judge for the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. He practiced law at Dow Lohnes & Albertson where he was named partner.
An advocate for women and minorities in the lobbying and legal professions, Don was named Vice President for Government Relations for the National Association of Broadcasters in 1975 where he led the NAB's work on the rewrite of the 1934 Communications Act. Don headed the communications practice for Baker & Hostetler for 20 years, where he represented NBC, Scripps Howard and General Electric, among others. He retired as an equity partner in 1999. Don was a member of the District of Columbia Bar, the Federal Communications Bar Association and was licensed to practice at the Supreme Court.
Don loved his family, many inlaws, and host of good friends, going back to high school times at Bishop Duffy High School in Niagara Falls, NY, where he was born. He enjoyed opera and Notre Dame football.
The family will receive relatives and friends at MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 1102 W. BROAD ST., FALLS CHURCH, VA on Friday, November 1, 2013 from 6 to 8pm. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at St. James Catholic Church, 103 N. Spring St., Falls Church, VA beginning at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in his memory to the College Scholarship Program of the Federal Communications Bar Association Foundation 1020 19th Street NW Washington, DC 20036.
