He graduated from Gonzaga College High School and Georgetown University in Washington D.C. A dedicated civil servant, he worked as an economist for 36 years at the U.S. Department of Commerce, and then served for 28 years as assistant voter registrar for the City of Falls Church.
He was married to Jeanne McCauley Trott for 65 years, and is survived by her and by six children, Barry (Lynn), Mary Creane (Michael), Judith Guy (James), Anthony (Sheri), Matthew, and Emily Donovan (Michael), and by nine grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son. He loved his family, and they in turn cherished him.
A wake will be held at Murphy Funeral Home in Falls Church on Thursday. January 15 from 4-8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann Catholic Church in Arlington at 1PM on Friday, January 16 followed by burial at St. James Cemetery in Falls Church.
