

Elaine was born in Paris, France on June 1,1938 to Moriss Knobler and Rywka Wajncwajg and was raised by step mother Hannah Knobler (Feinberg). As a young girl, Elaine emigrated to the U.S. during the Holocaust. She went to high school at Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, MD and married Abraham Leach on January 31,1960 in Washington, DC.
Her first job was as a secretary at the Bakery, Confectionary Union, in Kensington, MD. She then went on to work as an Administrative Assistant for U.S. defense contractor Vitro Corporation for 15 years and Atlantic Physical Therapy for several years.
As a young woman, Elaine loved bowling with her girlfriends at Wheaton Triangle Lanes in Wheaton, MD. She was an avid knitter, and kept many of her friends and families babies outfitted in sweaters, scarves, and baby booties. She also enjoyed playing MahJong as well as ballroom dancing.
Elaine is preceded in death by Abraham Leach (husband) May 31,1985 and Gerald Leach (son) May 14, 2025.
Elaine is survived by her daughter; Sharon Anne Leach, son; Michael Stuart Leach (Kate), daughter-in-law; Adina Hirschmann Leach, grand-daughters Lyndsay Alexa Leach and Abbey Maura Leach, her brother Henry Knobler (Libby), as well as many cousins, nieces, special friends and family.
