A loving mother, grandmother, aunt, great aunt, and sister, Elaine was surrounded by family and friends who loved her for her kindness and good-natured soul.
Born to Philip and Sylvia Weinstein in Wilkes Barre, Pa., on December 15,1935, Elaine grew up with her two brothers, Joe and Nate, and sister Claire. After graduating high school, Elaine worked at Wilkes College as an administrator before moving to Boston, Mass., and then to the Washington, D.C. area, in 1962, with her husband of 28 years, Richard Murray. Elaine would work for an insurance company in Annandale, Va., and in 1981, with two grown sons David and Michael, Elaine launched her auspicious 42-year career in real estate helping buyers find the homes of their dreams. With an inherent talent and a competitive spirit, Elaine earned the trust of her clients and colleagues during her career at Weichert Realtors.
Elaine’s achievements included: Life Member, NVAR Top Producers Club; Winner, Weichert Hall of Fame; Winner, Weichert Distinguished Service Award; and winner of the Weichert National Sales Award.
Both fair and diligent in her efforts to negotiate an equitable price for homebuyers and sellers, Elaine brought a passion to her work, compassion for the men and women who worked for and with her, and a touch of grace to the real estate industry.
Most of all, whether finding homes for future homeowners or helping others in personal need through her volunteer work for political candidates, service on the Condo Board at Providence Square or with charitable donations, Elaine will be remembered by friends and family for her good-natured spirit, a youthful sense of humor, and the sincere kindness she had for everyone she met, including her fellow condo owners at Providence Square. All of the people who came in contact with Elaine, personally and professionally, found a sense of pride in their own pursuit of the American dream.
Elaine is survived by her two sons, David and Michael, and their wives, Julie and Michelle, grandchildren Lauren, Hannah and Eric Murray, brother Joseph Weinstein, and family members Harry and Sandy, Philip and April, Alysa, Abby and Preston, and Matt and Cassidy, Eli, Emma and Ella, and Richard and Karen Gerhardt.
The funeral will take place on Monday, May 15, at 3:00 p.m., at King David Memorial Gardens at National Memorial Park, in Falls Church, VA.
