

Ella Ruth Snoddy, 91, of New Canton, VA passed away peacefully in the presence of her daughter on Tuesday, February 10, 2015. She was born February 1, 1924 in Fries, VA, the daughter of the late Ernest William and Nancy Landreth Shupe. She was the widow of Bez Weston Snoddy, Jr.
She loved God and nature and family, finding beauty in everyday life. She served her country as a systems analyst for the National Security Agency for 30 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Fairchild and husband, Chuck; two granddaughters, Erin Fairchild-Whitehouse and husband, Shawn, and Cecelia Fairchild; two sisters, Nell Hammond and Eva Vaughan, both of Fries: a brother, Curtis Shupe of Fries; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family offers a special thanks to the Hospice of the Piedmont for their care and service.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Welcome Wesleyan Church, 26565 N. James Madison Hwy, New Canton, VA with Pastor Reed T. Goe officiating. Interment will be held at National Memorial Park/King David Memorial Gardens, Falls Church, VA at a later date. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 13th from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn.
