

France Sylvia Fromm, 91, died peacefully in Front Royal, Virginia on November 1, 2013 following a long battle with dementia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Seymour Martin Fromm and her son, Jeffery Bernard Fromm. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Phillips and her husband Craig Rogers of Arlington, Virginia; daughter Elaina M. Evans and her husband David R. Evans of Marshall, Virginia; daughter-in-law Ellen Fromm of Denver, Colorado and grandchildren Aaron Fromm and his wife Kate Zubritsky of Longmont, Colorado; David Fromm, his wife Phuong, and great grandchild Jasmine of Mt. View, California; and her sisters Rose Goldberg of Falling Water, West Virginia and Donna Benn and her husband Barry of Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Mrs. Fromm was born in Detroit, Michigan, August 21, 1922. She moved to Washington, DC during the Depression to be with family who worked in the metropolitan area. During World War II she served her country as a secretary at the Navy Yard where she met Army enlisted man Seymour Fromm. After marrying they settled in Alexandria where they were long-time residents.
For over 22 years Mr. and Mrs. Fromm owned and operated Rosemont Park Market in the Rosemont Area of Alexandria. Mrs. Fromm was an active member for over 50 years in the Martha Washington Chapter of the Eastern Star; was a lifelong member of Beth El Hebrew Congregation in Alexandria and was a life member of Hadassah and ORT America.
Both Mr. & Mrs. Fromm were avid fishermen. They spent many enjoyable hours relaxing and fishing on the Chesapeake Bay and at their property at the Wilderness Retreat in Fredericksburg, Virginia. They will be fondly remembered as a couple cruising across the water in search of a great day’s catch.
